Abstract
The study
introduces Sultan Salah al Din al Ayyubi, beginning with his birth and
upbringing, then tracing his military career up to his rise to power in Egypt.
It explains how he succeeded in unifying Greater Syria under his rule and
state, before addressing his death and describing the condition of Muslims and
those close to him upon hearing the news of his passing.
The study
also examines the events of the Battle of Hattin and how it paved the way for
the Islamic conquest of Jerusalem, as well as the other cities in Greater Syria
that were liberated by Salah al Din al Ayyubi one after another.
Furthermore,
the research discusses how the Mamluk sultans recovered the Islamic cities in
Greater Syria from the hands of the Crusaders, particularly during the reign of
Sultan al Ashraf Khalil, who brought down the last Crusader strongholds in Tyre
and Haifa, thereby eliminating their presence and restoring Greater Syria to
the fold of Islam and the Muslims in 690 AH.
The study
aims to highlight the history of Sultan Salah al Din al Ayyubi, draw lessons
and moral insights from his life, clarify his efforts in liberating Jerusalem,
and draw attention to this unique and exceptional leader.
